I was recently out with a group of friends when we struck up a conversation with a local actor. After we left, one of my friends looked at me and said, “he was pretty smart for an actor.”
There is a prevalent stereotype that actors are just pretty faces performing a simple job for big money. However, for the working actor, NONE of this stereotype rings true.
As a working actor, you are an entrepreneur. You are in the business of selling yourself to picky customers in a highly competitive marketplace. Everyday you must put on the hat of a technician performing a craft, a student learning to better that craft, a marketer, accountant, and secretary.
As a working actor, you are an entrepreneur.
So, anytime you encounter any of these stereotypes let them be fuel for your fire empowering you to perform the difficult tasks of being an actor/entrepreneur.
